Home to many universities and colleges, Boulder Colorado is quickly becoming a major cultural area as large numbers of students flock to the city to pursue their chosen degree. The city of Boulder has much to offer to these new residents, with the Rocky Mountains only a few footsteps away and all of the benefits that are usually limited to larger cities. Boulder Colorado has a relatively small population, with slightly over 100,000 people living in the city limits. It is in this area that many of the city’s universities are found.

By far the largest college in the city of Boulder is the Colorado University at Boulder. This university has an attendance of approximately 30,000 students that come from a wide range of locations across the country. With students making up such a large part of the population, many residents would describe the city as being very open to new ideas. As such, Boulder Colorado is considered to be one of the most progressive cities in the state as well as the country. The transient population of students helps to keep the area vibrant and many decide to stay in the region after their graduation from the Colorado University at Boulder.

Housing in Boulder is somewhat expensive compared to similar locations in the nation. However, a student will have the choice of staying in a university residence hall or renting an apartment in the area. While houses are available for purchase, apartments remain the top housing choice for students that would like to go to school in the city of Boulder but prefer not to live on campus. The best time to look for apartments is at the beginning or end of the summer, when students are vacating their previous properties or before they show up for the next school year.
