The MacBook is a notebook computer that was first marketed in 2006 to replace the PowerBook and the iBook. More over, it was the top selling laptop in the U.S from any other brand from june 2008 to october 2008.
In terms of designs, there have been three that include the original polycarbonate-fibreglass casing, the unibody aluminum version and the polycarbonate shell in its last model. The MacBook was first available in black and white cases with an Intel Core duo processor and a 945GM chipset, later moving to the Core 2 Duo with a GM965 chipset.
Due to the fact that school computers are not used by single users, but rather multiple users, the MacBook has a very special feature that makes it even a better idea for schools to keep in mind. As a matter of fact, the MacBook is easily upgraded and more importantly easily repaired, specially if compared to its predecessor, the iBook. Tasks such as replacing the memory and the hard drive are easily done by simply removing the battery and following the do-it-yourself manuals for each task.
As far as quality is concerned, the MckBook is manufactured under very strict quality control standards and constant improvements that have taken care of random shutdowns that occurred in the first models. The MacBook has evolved into a 1066 MHZ system bus that is a lot faster than the original models.
